My hubby lived in Telok Blangah Crescent since birth to when he's into his twenties. He grew up eating the Telok Blangah Crescent market lor mee. Now that we live in the west side, we would sometimes drove to TLK just to eat lor mee. For $3, the lor mee is very generous with chucks of pork, bite-sizes of fish-meat and tasty hand-made meat-balls. My hubby thinks it's one of the better lor mee around. Oh, if you wanna try it, take note this lor mee stall is the outer stall facing the HDB block, and not the inner & newer "Shark-meat" stall.The lor-mee that my hubby & I like (in no order of priority):-
a) Telok Blangah Cres market lor mee
b) Bukit Purmei lor mee [heard this used to be from the old Tiong Bahru market]
c) Old Airport market lor mee [with bite-sizes of deep fried fish meat]

tiong bahru market also have 1 lor mee stall, not bad! they have shark fin meat! very crisph!
the original tiong bahru lor mee is no longer in tiong bahru market already. one of the sis has setup a stall in Bukit Purmei, while one bro has setup his in Bukit Batok.
incidently, do you know that the gravy for lor mee is originally made of pig's skin? yap, it's a tedious process of slowing blowing the pig skin until it turn into a sticky paste.
the amoy street market and the tiong tanjong market are two different locations. the one SIS refer to is located opposite arami hotel, upstairs are the housing block.

The Bt. Purmei stall is opened by the Bro and sis-in-law and the Bt. Batok is opened by the daughter. I know b'cos I know the family since young when studied in Tiong Bahru area.

The Bukit Purmei is at Blk 109 Coffeeshop but i haven't try b4 becos i went there in evening they closed already. i think this stall operate in the morning.the other one at Jln Bukit Ho Swee is blk 4(coffeeshop) also operate until afternoon, This stal lor mee i try b4 not bad!

Clementi central market has 1 lor mee stall (next to the yong tao foo stall) that is also quite delicious. i guess whether a lor mee is nice or not really depends on the diner. I have one colleague who is allege to shark-meat; he only knew of it when he tried the AMK shark-meat lor mee and immediately after that broke out in itchy rashes.
